Pretties!

Hi everyone. I know I’ve been missing for quite  while now, but I brought pretties to show you for your patience!

Lately I haven’t been able to bake as much as I’d like, but I have been working on a bit of art for a project that has been in progress for the longest. I managed to order a graphics tablet (a wacom, bamboo splash), and after two weeks of waiting on the connector cable I can now use it.

Here’s a few samples of what I got so far.

I wanted your opinion though, which colorway do you like best?

I’ll be sure to count your comments, because I’m planning something special with these later!

New-ish Project

I sew sometimes.

I probably should sew more considering the sheer mass of cloth I’ve accumulated, but I do sew.

When I was in high school, I asked (or begged, whatever) her for a sewing machine for my birthday. Now I was notorious for asking for things for crafts that I would want to try out, but then never really stayed interested enough to continue. So Mum was more than a bit skeptical to buy me such an expensive piece of equipment for someone like me. I mean, a good sewing machine at the time was about $300 or so. That’s a lot to spend on something that I would “maybe” use. So she got smart. She made me promise that I would use it more than once that year, and if I didn’t she would take it or make me pay her back. I can never remember which.

Since then I’ve made a lot of different things both for myself and others, but all that was really good practice for my newest project. A wedding dress.

I’ve never made a wedding dress before, so I read up on it a lot before even starting, and I’ve learnt a lot of things I’ve never heard of before. So this is a journal to record my progress, and to show my big sister how it looks while she’s off to school. Even though she is not with me, I don’t want her to feel left out!

I hope you enjoy the posts about that in the future. If my camera behaves for me I’ll add lots of pictures. ^^

Closet Cleaning

It has been ages since I have posted here. Just look at the dust!

I have been thinking for a while about combining a few blogs together with this one. I decided it was the best idea since I really don’t like hopping between blogs, and since a lot of the things I do/post are homely in nature so they can gel well. On different pages of course, but on the same piece of web real estate.

So I’m apologising for the clutter ahead of time, because a lot of the posts from my other blogs will be here until I get things settled in. I will also be scrapping a lot of my older posts from this blog.

Hope those who still pop in every so often will forgive me for my absence and seeming crazy clutter. ^^’ My bad people.

Long Time No See

Hey everyone, if there is still an everyone to say hey to.

It has been a really long time since my last post. A few months actually. There is a legitimate reason for that. Between getting a really nasty cold and the holidays, I have not had much in the way of actual updates and interesting things to blog about.

Thankfully, this post is a sign that something interesting has come along! For a while now I have been talking about using the site for a story based on my mascot Ginger. I was waiting to get a few things together before I said anything was moving forward.

So, what exactly happened to prompt this post? I finally got my printer/scanner last week! This means that I will be able to hand draw the story pages, scan them, and then upload and update the story onto the site. I also have a few other slightly unrelated art ideas I want to do as well, so I will have something to show you soon.

I am so sorry for my long absence, but I hope to do better this year.

See you soon.

Sewing Update

Hey everyone. I did a post a few days past on some new sewing projects I had going underway.

Well… I got one of them done so far, and a picture from a past project I’m not sure I posted anywhere on here.

I made the blouse using this pattern.

Lucky loliable find. ^^

The pattern is really simple, and very easy to follow. The only thing I didn’t like about using this one with chiffon, is that the front facing shows through. So I may just modify that bit the next time I make a white blouse from it.

Here’s the end result. It has little white flower buttons! ^^

Cute no?

Next up is a blouse I did a long while back. It’s more peach colored in person, but it did really well for a Halloween outfit I had. ^^

Peachy Keen!

Time to start work on the blue one. I may get a bit more fancy with this one. I’ll post pics when I’m done.

Later gator!

Progress on 2012 Wishlist

So, I’ve been looking over my Christmas List for 2012, and I have to say I’m disappointed that I was not able to do a lot of the things on the list. I mean, a few I have made steps towards in getting started, and just need to follow up, but just haven’t finished. Others I’ve found were simply unnecessary in the long run.

I’ve decided then, to go over my list, and kind of review. Get myself refocused and squared away for the coming months.

A few things that I deemed unnecessary were the photo journal and new website. These, if I remember right, were going to be separate and apart from the WordPress site, which would not make much sense. It would mean more work to update and keep up with the extra websites. It would be simpler for me to create new pages for this already existing website.

The trade shows would be near impossible for me to do at the moment, seeing as how (a) we don’t have food trade shows here where I live, and (b) I wouldn’t be able to get the time off from my job to go to one elsewhere. Unless I used my vacation… There’s a thought.

Some things seem to be better left alone until I am more well situated to be able to sustain them. A shop space would be one of them. Ideal spaces are usually off the beaten track, or else they are very out of my present budget. T.T So that will have to wait. This means that I will also have to (for the time being) postpone buying ingredients in bulk.

With my current work load and studies under way, it may be a bit difficult to cater to parties and other such events. I guess I will have to base my decision on a case by case basis rather that to outright refuse.

I have been able to approach a few shops about carrying my cookies, now I have to show a price list and send out samples to each one. *Crosses fingers* I hope it goes well. I’ve also done a giveaway on the Mimosa Cafe Facebook page, and it was pretty well received I think. I just need to make it an event on Facebook rather than just a regular post for it to be more effective.

Finally, the Mimosa Cafe tea party is already planned out. I just have to get the menu and venue solidified and then I’m ready to go. I’m going to have that as an event on Facebook as well so I can track attendance.

I think that’s everything for this post. Till next time, take care.
